How can anyone earn money by selling a 100% handmade crystal figurine for a dollar? Rediculous! In the future, the government needs to set up an agency that oversees all big and small retail stores nationwide to sell goods at reasonable prices. We have a “disposable society.” No one wants higher quality for higher prices, they all want cheaper prices, they don’t care who suffers.
And companies in the USA can’t turn out items as cheap as China because workers won’t work so cheap, and have so many safety concerns, so domestic goods prices must be higher than imports.
I read an article about a high quality small lawn mower company who ran out of business thanks to Wal-Mart: cheaper to just buy a new one and throw the old one away.
But won’t raising the prices domestic USA pays for Imported Chinese goods just funnel more money into China? We would have to make the goods in the USA instead… except China destroys their environment to make all these toxic plastic items, dumping hazardous waste into water without any care, something USA won’t be willing to do.
